Because childbirth carries with it a host of worries, brushing your pearly whites while pregnant is perhaps one of the last things you worry about. But because your dental health can affect your health and the baby’s health, it’s vital that you do your best to maintain your oral cavity health while you’re expecting. We’ve amassed the following tips to assist you in doing just that.
How to retain your mouth health during pregnancy:
-Always brush at least two times per day using ADA-approved toothpaste.
-Floss your chompers at least once daily.
-If you use oral products besides toothpaste and floss, ensure that they also carry the ADA seal of approval.
-Take note of foods high in sugar, which could form plaque, tartar and eventually gum disease in your oral cavity.
-Visit our office regularly so that we can watch out for your oral health and adjust your treatment plan accordingly.
-Monitor your plaque; if you have irregularly high amounts, we may be able to suggest a high-power mouthwash to assist you in keeping it under control.
